Let's Make Mixtapes

Keeping your childhood pop icons alive…even the ones you thought were dead.

If maybe you’re a bit too young to recall Tony! Toni! Toné!, but you’re a geek who pays attention, then you likely remember the group (and their first top ten single, “Feels Good”) as featured on one of my favorite shows, Rick and Morty. (All blessings to Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon.) Regardless, you should probably swing back through their catalog. If you need a jumping off point, may I recommend their breakout (and third studio) album, 1993s Sons of Soul?

The album reached number 34 on the Billboard charts and 8 on the R&B charts. It spun off several hits including “Anniversary,” and this, one of the best tracks, IMHO, of the 90s…
